Hello,
I have recently acquired a XJ8 3.2, 1999 with 128.000km. I have already made my presentation and I would like to thank everybody the nice welcome I have received. After three weeks of ownership I have some general doubts which are:
1-) Where is located the OBII interface?
2-) What OBDII code reader is good for the Jaguar?
3-) Latch from passenger's door only goes up. I've tried with lubricant but no result. Please, can anyone tell me the procedure to dismantle the door trim and therefore get acces to the mechanism?
4-) When I turn left, just for changing lane or take a bend, I hear a hollow noise comming from the front wheels. There's no vibration. What should I inspect?
5-) Climate issue: it works fine but when it is completely off, there is some fan working on the front right side (footrest area) although no air comes from any hole. What should I check?
6-) Wheels need to be equilibrated. What kind of equilibrate process, static or dynamic, do you recommend? Is there a great difference?
Thank very much for helping me and I hope to help you in the future

AdriaXJ8,
Let me add my welcome!
. . . and an effort to answer your questions:
1. The OBDII Data Port is located on the bottom edge of the dash directly above the hood release handle.
2. On the General Tech forum there is a 'sticky' that discusses many, many readers with owners opinions.
3. At the top of this and other forums there are 'stickies' with worlds of information on such questions. Or a quick 'search' will locate almost anything that has more than 3 letters in the search word. Here is a specific link to a door panel removal video on an XK8 but the XJ will be very similar. Jaguar XK8 Door Panel Removal. - YouTube
4. Don't know much about 'hollow' sounds but I might start with the wheel bearing.
5. The Engine Control Module, located in what is fondly known as the 'firewall extension' on the right side has a cooling fan much like a PC. That's my best guess.
6. I have had wheels balanced both ways and the last and best balance was off the car. Others will swear by 'force balancing'.
Taradell . . . Spain. Like Ellijay, only one in the world. Again, welcome to the forum and keep posting.
