Default OBD scanner for SRS/air bag faults

I've read numerous posts, but haven't found a clear answer.

Jag all fixed up and running fine. Only thing left is the SRS/air bag light. Want to find a scanner that will tell me exactly where the problem lies. Can someone point me to a scanner that definitely does this? Not opposed to paying more for a scanner that covers multiple brands. I have the Durametric for my Carrera and like the PC based type, but self contained is fine.

I'm in the same boat
In addition to the airbag light ... the check engine light just turned on last week. I just bought an iCarsoft CR Pro and it does not read my car very well at all. My car is a 2001 XJR.

I went with Foxwell nt530. Does SRS and a whole lot more. Ordered with Jag program. Can hold five makes. Additional make $80 by download. Put in FC for coupon code to save 5%.
Should receive any day. I’ll update how works.

Foxwell nt530 works fine. Showed me specific airbag codes, driver seat side air bag and driver seat seat belt buckle. Auto VIN find does not work and its select by vehicle year/model also off (when put in 2003 XJ8 it asks if I have a 3.5 of 4.2 engine). However, its select by VIN range gets you to the right car. Just bought a Mercedes C230 for my daughter. Download Mercedes program for $60. That work fine also. Tech support is non-existent. Tickets submitted through program not responded to. Same with emails. I wrote them just about the VIN bug above.

This for the earlier X300 ( inline 6 ) which may be helpful outside of using a scanner :

A friend let me borrow his Autel scanner. I don't remember if it had air bag codes. But had literally everything from seat modules to cats suspension. The one thing it didn't give was AFR.

Searched everything today, Autel is the only brand that actually had a US phone number that they answered. Top notch customer service, but the price - ouch!

The one I used was like $1,500
I didn't get to use it for long. But next time, I'll take my time with. If it gives AFR, I'll buy one asap.

I wouldn't worry about AFR, the Jag does nto have sensors to give you that, you need a stand alone wideband which are relatively cheap.

The Launch X431 Pros Mini can read and reset all modules in over 100 makes and includes two years of updates in the initial cost of $700-$800.

Can you get someone in tech support if you have a problem?

Good to know. I have been stressing over this a lot before I pulley and exhaust my xjr. But didn't we get wide band sensors from factory? I believe 2000 and up xj's did.

Old Thread but relevant issue and context for lot of folks including myself.

Topdon Artdiag Pro will detect and tell you where to look for your ABS issue, I had to trick the scanner however and let it think my car is a higher VIN range than it really is in order to communicate. Previous attempts with iCarSoft 930 were futile for my 1998 XJR

Chiming in too, I recently got an Autel MX808 for Volvo brake work, tested it on the XJR too and it's got quite the features... all the way down to being able to do things like read live data from the climate control (in case trying to diagnose a weird temperature or control flap behavior). I'm sure it will read SRS codes, it was able to read my ABS code history. And it was less than 400 bucks, pretty reasonable.
