Oil Cooler for XJR 2001
Hi there,
Had a quick question regarding the oil cooler for the 2001 XJR X308. Left mine off the road for some time and found that along with the various problems that this brought, was the oil cooler sprouted a leak.
Checked with Jaguar and they don't stock the part any longer, checked ebay and when available they want 250£ plus for second user kit! So my question is, has anyone successfully ported the XKR or other non-OEM uprated oil cooler to the XJR? Can anyone recommend or point me in the right direction to get this replaced with a like or better substitute?
Thanks

Not entirely sure? but it appears to be leaking from quite a few places. Both crimped connection sides and it appears to have bad corrosion on the main body below the looped cooling splines.
I had heard from various sources that the V12 oil cooler could be a substitute? Has anyone fitted this to the S/C V8?

I haven’t heard of a V12 EOC or plumbing being a suitable replacement for our cars.
There are options to contend with this.
1) Any good hydraulics shop can cut off the crimped connections and install a new compression flange along with a new rubber hose.
2) If it’s not in a bad area, your EOC can be soldered by a good welder.
3) If you don’t want to deal with an EOC anymore, I have run across several AJ-V8 engines with a EOC bypass that comes out of the engine, loops and goes back in the engine. It’s only about 3” wide.
4) If you drop the oil pan down, there’s an oil thermostat that’s held in by (2) 8mm bolts. It’s round in size. I *think* you can get the relatively same plate from a non EOC AJ-V8 but, this won’t have provisions for oil to flow through it hence you won’t have a need for an external EOC. Some more research would be needed to verify this though.
