going to do a change this weekd, what do I need to look out for? I am hoping NAPA will have a filter. But the oil I am curious about.
The owners manual suggest many different grades based upon temp, but our temps range so much (especially this time of year) I am not sure which way to go. 5w-30??
Also - synthetic is preferred, correct?

There is a popular oil on the market I don’t know if we are allowed to mention brand names…. but It’s used on lots of race cars on TV a lot and it has a green and yellow label …it use to be call for [ the brand ] in the older Jaguar manuals it comes in a synthetic 5w50 …if you look in your manual that’s covers every thing

First,
I run the WIX ( Same as NAPA Gold ) Filterand Mobil1 0W-40. Oil stays clean over the 5000 miles between changes, and the engine does not use any oil.
Since Allied Signal bought FRAM, the mission statement is to Maximize Profits. As a result, the quality of materials has dropped. Look for independent oil filter testing on the web.

lol...I am a big boy.....or so the ladies tell me...
It is not the fact that all 4.2 filters rupture. I think there was just a bad batch. They didn't last long as the cars were towed back in within a couple days. Haven't seen one burst in over a year. It was where the seam meets the filter housing. I am a believer in using factory parts is all.

FRAM makes a replacement filter for the 4.0 V8 engines but it's sold only in Europe. We have to import them.
Manufacturing problems: we went through that with the Bosch filters for Rover. As JFT said, it was just one batch the blew the sealing rings off. Sent them back and the next came in with no problems. Been a couple of years since.
