Remember, the paint, leather and interior parts are nearly cost prohibitive to get "right", so if that stuff looks good, fixing the mechanical parts ain't so bad.

And, most importantly, you are now driving a fancy, stylish european sports sedan- A JAG-U-WAH, no less!!!

Good going!

Keep us up to date.

You will find there are lots of helpful people on this board.

Without this board, I would NOT be able to keep my jags so easily and cheaply.

Whenever you run into problems, just post them here, someone will quickly help.

Does anyone think the gas smell in the cabin could be a faulty gas cap? Was on mine.

Go on...I put gas in it tonight and noticed it more then normal.

So I got the car and drove it home. All good. Pulled into best buy to buy my wife a valentines day gift, came out and the traction control/abs came back on. Any thoughts on the go forward?

The best way to be sure is to have someone with the dealer level software, or AutoEnginuity read the ABS codes. There are three usual suspects for that fault:
1) low battery
2) the ABS circuit board has a motor connector that breaks it's solder joints and makes intermiitent contact- it will leave a code. You have to cut the module or make a hole to fix it, and the archives have the procedure well defined.
3) A wheel sensor or it's connector is dirty or failed- This hint for this one is that the fault comes on after the car is moving at a few mph. unfortunately, #1 also can behave that way, I think.

If you don't have the stomach to take your new Jaguar apart with a hack saw, there are references in the archive about at least one place that will repair the module for you. The module is mounted to the ABS unit, but can be removed without breaking any brake lines, and the car runs (and stops!) fine without the module mounted. (No ABS, of course)
Good luck. Sounds like you are almost there!

This forum rocks. Not only do you find help here when needed but you get to read others woes knowing you aren't the only one with "enter problem" and from time to time you get to add your two cents to help out another Jag owner.

I have gotten more help here than I can remember. Just about the time I'm fed up with the wifes Jag and I'm ready to make it disapear and collect the insurance money I find a fix that isn't hard to deal with and I revele in the fact that I don't have a payment on it. That is always good. I'll throw a few hundred in it once in a while knowing I don't have a payment too.

While my large frame doesn't fit in the car very well when it is running right it is a blast to drive.

You guys have been amazing. Now I'm trying to figure out what Bilstein fronts to order. I found PN# MND2140AD for about $100 a shock but I cant tell if those are for the sport or comfort. Ive got the standard non cats, non sport suspension - edit - it needs to be done so I'm paying a little more and just doing it

UPDATE:
1) rearview mirror glass "scorched" - getting shipped off next week - $100
2) headliner sagging - getting done Sat. Found a guy through a rec at work for $250
3) radio antenna/mast not working - installing today
4) Traction control failure - looks like control module needs attention
5) ABS light on - looks like control module needs attention
6) Gas smell in the cabin - return line not properly fitted. Looks like the fuel tank was off recently...perhaps the fuel pump was recently replaced
7) Misfire in Cyl 4 (I pulled the OBD2 codes and it said misfire and bad coil) - done
8) Valve cover gasket - done
9) Front brake - done
10) Manifold intake tube - done
11) Oil change - done
12) Front Bilsteins being installed today along with new poly bushings
13) Pass door actuator out - and it's $400 from the dealer. Not today kids! This'll have to wait

Its coming together...slowly but surely...

Ok, I read the whole thread, and I can chime in.

ABS/Track not available,......step one,....pull all wheels, pull sensors off, clean them, clean the contacts, reinstall, clear codes, drive. If it comes back, pull the module, send it out (info available on the forum).

Pass door actuator,.....call Rick the owner of Elite Auto Parts (close to your location - Google), he has all the parts for the Jags, at 50%off (or better if you buy several items, VERY willing to deal). Good service, knowledgeable. He specializes in Jag dismantling.

Buy used parts, DIY install, and the Jag ownership becomes a hobby, and VERY cheap at that.

As far as "all Jags have sagging headliners"....),....maybe not. I just sold 98VDP with 90K on the clock with original headliner INTACT and pristine! The car came from AZ, but always garaged and with low miles. My wife's 03 is sagging,...go figure.

Glad you sorted out the rest.

If you see that while you walk away, and look one more time over your shoulder, that makes up for all troubles right ?
At least that is the way it goes for me ... most of time ...

Nice looking car.

Funny you guys say that...I got to about 20' from her, looked back and thought "damn, thats just a good looking car". And they really are. I've always been a fan of them and I really, really think with 95% of the problems behind me and that initial freak out over I'm going to enjoy owning it. I just sent the mirror off for repair so all thats really left is potentially the ABS module and the pass door lock. Well for now . Just gotta stay on top of the little things so they dont turn into big things. But yeah, so far I really like the big girl!
