Default One or two Cam Sensors on a XJR?

I am looking for a broken camshaft sensor for a 99 XJR. While doing the head gasket replacement I only saw (1) sensor, but all suppliers list a left and right side sensor??. I am pretty sure my car has only one on the driver side or am I mistaking? Does a 99 XJR (4.0L supercharged) uses 1 or 2 sensors?.

Thanks
Ivan

The engine has only 1 camshaft position sensor for the engine. Located on the end of the bank 2 camshaft. It is possible that a later year model AJ27 engines have 2 sensors.
I recommend you download the free parts catalog from one of our forum sponsors SNG Barratt SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist.
Below is an excerpt from their catalog you can see by VIN number when the engine update went to 2 sensors.

All AJ26 have one sensor on the 'B'bank and All AJ27 have two, one on each bank.

But..

My car was built on 10/98 with vin # 861012 ??

This makes it a (2) sensor vin???

It only has one for sure! I checked just now?

What could explain this? Older engine on car?

I wouldn't worry about the above vins, if your car is an AJ26 it's got one sensor. If you feel your car is an AJ27 then there should be another connector on the loom and your throttle body will look different.
Has the other head got a sensor fitted or is it blank?

Supercharged engines were carried over ONE MORE YEAR as AJ26.

The first AJ27 Supercharged was 2000MY.
