Question Opinions on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus Tire on a VDP?

Need new front tires, considering the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus - anyone have an opinion on them?

They seem to be the only all-season ultra-high-performance tire in VDP OEM 225-60 R16 and are rated very well at tire rack.

The Michelin Pilot line has always been a nice smooth riding tire.

Are the Conti DWS not available in the size you want?

I've run them on a 08 535i and I thought they did very well. I wouldn't hesitate to put them on my XK

Another tire that is right up there in ride quality is the Yokohama line.

Conti-Pro-Contact DWS...best all season tire for the price, i have both the pilot sports and the DWS and for the price i will only buy the DWS from now on.

I have the Pilot Sports on my 04 XJ8. Have been on for about 20,000 miles. Very nice. Smooth. Very sticky, especially in the wet. Don't use the car much in the snow so I can't comment usefully on their snow performance. Were exceptionally quiet at first, have gotten a tad louder over time but not to a great degree. They also look great...very wide profile and an aggressive tread pattern. Would highly recommend, although I'm sure there are many decent alternatives.

I had a set of Pilot Sport A/S+ on my VDP S/C. They were generally quiet and smooth with sharp steering response. Both dry and wet performance were great. I parked this car when it snowed so I can't comment on snow/ice performance.

My opinion is that the A/S's were more aggressive than the general driving personality of my car. They also did not last long--my set was down to the wear bars after 20K miles. This wasn't due to an alignment issue, the tires were worn evenly across each tire and tire-to-tire differences were minimal.

However, I had no problem claiming a treadwear warranty adjustment on my next purchase, which ended up being a set of Conti DWS's. Steering response is somewhat dulled with the DWS's, and in general they feel very soft. So I might have overcompensated by moving from "too aggressive" to "too compliant."

I went to pick up my XK today and that's what they installed for me - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S all around. What a difference from the original 5 year old Dunlops lol.

Have a set in 245-40X18 on the wife's 3.0L S-Type. Very happy with them after 20k-25k miles. Relatively quiet, good grip. I personally much prefer the Michelin Primacy MXV4 in a 225-60X16 I have on the 95 VDP. Silent. Smooth....but not the sporting tire the other one is.
