Did you ever get a chance to fit the parts back into the roof.
Originally I asked about part 9, but I meant part 3. I'm keen to know how it's supposed to attach to the whole kit......
If you've effected the repair can you let me know how it all went together.
Thanks
Lyndon

Anyone have any ideas on how to secure these things, mine drops every 2-3 weeks, it's beyond annoying now. I've ensured all tangs are inserted as well as the screw being tight yet it always falls. I've even had others like my audio guys install it, with the same result. It's a really a curious design to say the least.

If the "teeth" on the plastic turn-stud are good, you probably need to replace the part #6 on the diagram (BBC9868) but this seems NLA. You can try with KRF100001, "stud retainer" (the socket for the plastic stud holding the middle plastic cover in the engine compartment) or KRF100002 ("cam plate") which is for the plastic stud retaining the carpeted vertical floor panels at the back of the rear footwell.
If you cannot get these Jaguar parts, try with Volvo - I know that Volvo 240 uses a number of these studs and sockets at the bottom of the door panels.

Having only very limited experience with other areas of the forum, I have to say that the X308 guys are the best.
Always a helpful response, and full of ideas to make things easier, add to that the experiences and pitfalls to watch out for, what more could we ask? This is my first cat, an engine and gearbox replacement that simply wouldn't have happened without the help.
Wish there were more UK guys on here though!

I have a feeling this plastic "screw" fell into the glasses holder lid. In my experience you must press the console up tightly to the headliner THEN install the screw. I added the Vanden Plas wood grain veneer to mine. It simply peeled away from the donor wreck. I then applied 3M emblem cement to it to hold it to my console. Regarding LED's not working, they are polarity sensitive IE can be installed backwards !

Ok brainstorming now, my console is constantly falling down on brisk acceleration. It's falling from the clipped end notably the passenger side not the screw. I've inspected the clips & they both look positioned the same. What more can I do to bolster security here ?! I was thinking maybe some velcro along that end ?! It's beyond annoying now, I've even had my audio guy install it & it still falls.
Any ideas are welcome.

I guess velcro could do, as long as you can find some mating surfaces.
But I remember there is pretty much emptiness and connectors there.
I forgot the exact look of it, but my first thought is that maybe you broke a piece of plastic at the front of the cover, not allowing it to be held enough?
Second thought; it pushes forward in the 2 clips, then held in that forward and secure position by the plastic screw.
I can see that maybe the base where the screw goes in is misalligned, too far backward, allowing the cover to slide back, then fall out?
Again, long time ago I was in there, i might say nonsense here...

KC, is there anyway you could adapt it to have one, or a pair, of strategically placed screws in the area where the sunglasses pocket swings down? Insert the console, and then screw up to hold it tight (making sure you have researched before-hand that there is somewhere that can accept the screws), and then when the sunglasses pocket is swung back into place the screws are hidden?

If so, I can see, if they are missing, there is too much space, with your results ...

These are bare metal in mine ?!
Hmm I wonder if these clamp sleeves will fit the tangs ?!
