P0020

Hi dsnyder586,
I think the forum is glitching for me because I can't read your car year, model and engine info in your signature, but assuming it's an X308, according to the DTC Summaries Manual, the first two possible causes of P0020 are a problem with the ECM to VVT solenoid drive circuit wiring, or a problem with the VVT to ECM circuit ground. So it sounds like you still have a wiring problem. It could be corrosion on an electrical connector or on the associated ground/earth point.
You can download the X308 Electrical Guide for your model year here:
JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource
I am attaching the 2000 DTC Summaries Manual here. Let me know if your car is a different model year - I probably have the correct manual.
Cheers,
Don

dsnyder586,
In case you are not familiar with RJ237's shorthand terms, I think he means that possibly one of the ABS wheel speed sensors is faulty, or its electrical connector is corroded or contaminated, or its wiring harness has been broken (open) or shorted to ground, or one of the ABS reluctor rings is plugged up with dirt between its teeth and not providing the proper signal to the sensor. Those are all common causes of ABS and Traction Control system problems.
Cheers,
Don

I cannot imagine that they are related. Different modules and no interconnected control strategy! The only possibility is a low battery.
The fault code seems to indicate an open circuit on the VVT solenoid. So, I would use an ohmmeter to measure each side's solenoid resistance to see if B side was the same as A side. If so, then look to the connector and the wiring. It should be straightforward (if not easy!) to find.

Thanks to all- I found a *very* frayed wire going to the tensioner plug- cuold have been from the accident, or from when we wulled it (accident made the opening very tight).
After a few restarts the ABS/TRAC lights went off so all is good for now- just need to smog, transfer and off she goes with my son to college! (albiet two miles from here.)
