P1000 and p1384
Dear all,
I am having a big concern regarding to my 8 cylinders gas XJ8 2003. Just got new engine installed but the engine check light comes on.
It is a bit rough only when idling but there is no power problem when driving at high speed at all. I have P1000 stored and could not be cleared, P1384 come up later after the engine check light on. I have replaced Valve timing solenoid but it could not help. I am not so keen that the new engine is at fault. I am possible to clear P1384 but not the P1000 which this could require drive cycle but still could not be cleared. I have replaced engine oil to 10w-40 but still would not help. Please kindly give some advise from those who used to have this problem before and fixed it right, I have attached the DTC for your reference. Thanks in advance.

P1000 simply means you have done a code reset and not completed a drive cycle- Google that for an explanation.
The other code is meaningful. If you have not abused the engine and gummed it up with infrequent oil changes, then you have a oil flow, solenoid or control problem, best diagnosed by someone who understands the vvt system.
