Yes there are various, I believe I'm using 225/60r16. What's making your tires so expensive is the Z thrown in there if I can remember correctly those are high speed tires rated for well above 100 mph. You should be able to go to any tire place and get that size tire or one compatible size at a much lower speed rating for a much lower price.

With 17" and larger wheels you'll find mostly "high performance" tires which, as a rule, are expensive and don't last very long.
However, a quick check at tire Rack shows a Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum in the size you mentioned for $114 each (not bad these days) with an excellent "600" tread life rating.
More conventional type tires are available but you'll need to change to 16" wheels to have a variety to select from.
Cheers

I love my Nankang AS-1 tires (not NS2). Check their website under the Comfort tab. They are extremely quiet and inexpensive when compared to the other stuff out there.
They have a 225/50/17 which is really close to your size. Should be around $100.00 or so per tire then add about $70.00 for mount, balance, and tax. That should get you out the door for around $500.00-$550.00
FWIW, I got a set of four 245/45/18 AS-1's for $618.00 total. I've put close to 1500 miles on them in a month in mostly highway driving and don't have anything but praise for these tires so far.
