the piece of shiiiitey plastic part load breather tube/hose cracked on my 98 xjr. I tried to seal the crack with some plastic epoxy.
question #1 (+1.5): am I fooling myself to think that the epoxy will seal the crack? How would I even know if it did?
question #2: what are the effects of running with a non-sealed part load breather hose? Will this create a vacuum leak, causing it to run lean?
gotta love all the plastic!!

the PLB passes from the front of the left cam cover , down under the intake manifold, it connects to the bottom of the TB and then further round onto the side of the TB( so 3 plugs in total ) , it can be a pig to replace, as getting your hand in to push on the new ( tight ) connector is a royal pita ,
please bear in mind, your ' plastic ' part is now ten years old and has spent all its life inside the valley of a V8 engine, and has gone past the accepted life span of a vehicle, so a small part in the engine isnt to bad with regard to failure , is it.....?
it will effect running and idle of the car, and best to get replaced asap, i put some gaffer tape round mine until the new parts came in, it held up quite well for a week or two...you will be amazed at how flexible the new pipe is over the old one....
cleaning the hole on top of the cam is a simple matter of using a fine drill bit to go into the hole, and gently remove any crud that might be there.
