Default Parts Car vs. Current Car

I have a 1999 XJ8 (Aqua Marine with 111k miles ) that eventually will need the Plastic Timing Chain tension revamp to Metal upgrade , car also has minor dings & dents (Mostly door dings ) Bad rear view mirror, and broken Headlight Glass , lower running light broken, lower bumper light lens broken, Passenger side view mirror internals broken, Windshield Washer tub destroyed along with missing Washer Pump & part of the system lines/hoses, windshield light sand pitting... And I have a chance to purchase a 2000 XJ8 (Green) 124k miles with Bad Tranny , but cars other issues (Water in Gas Tank from heavy rains, Driver Door wont open from outside, trans cooler rubber hose section between aluminum sections cracked ... but Body is straight and windshield perfect and it has polished wheels as opposed to the Original unpolished on the 99 ... Parts Car is 500.00$ Should I get it to cannibalize for repairs on 99 or just get it and put parts (Windshield, wheels, side view mirror et all on running 99 and save the 2000 to eventually swap motors (Will 2000 SWAP OUT WITH 99 ???) and will all the other parts swap out (The 500.00 Pricetag is not a factor considering all the parts that can go between the two if they interchange ?? Should I move on a Second (Not Running XJ8) I have over an Acre back yard so storage is no issue either. Any comments appreciated ...

Gator Monroe,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums!

I have moved your post from the forum for the X350 to the forum for the X308, which is the Jaguar factory project code for the XJ8s manufactured from 1997 to 2003. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.

And since we're a friendly group, please visit New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and post an introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jag and give you a proper welcome.

Cheers,

Don

Looked at the Green 2000 XJ and its a little rougher condition than I thought , after reading a lot of thread trees here I'm on the fence . I have a few days to chew on idea of getting it for (Spare Engine) (Polished Rims) (Modded exhaust system) (Laundry list of small parts) ...
