Hi All, Thought I would share this story. I have a 2003 XJ Sport. Bought it in 2005 with 24k miles and was in showroom condition. Love this car! Its been sitting for a while and haven't driven it much since I've had it. It has about 78k miles now.

Its been sitting for the last year with a few problems. Needs a front bearing replacement, new tires and what I thought may have been a big electrical issue. I've researched this forum and found threads about the door latch microswitch problems that some have had and thought I may be on to something. I was ready to buy a used door latch for my front passenger door. The door has not been able to lock, the warning light comes on when I drive, the lights go on and off while driving and the alarm would go off on its own.

This last week I've made a commitment to get it on the road again and to tackle these problems and get them fixed. While waiting for some parts I found a good deal on a battery since what I had was shot. To back up a bit, my original battery died a couple years ago and I threw a used one in to get by. It was not a match and was smaller but it worked. Last year I started having this door latch issue and it was draining my battery as well. So today I bought the correct battery and installed it.

My door latch problem is gone? Seriously?!? all that because of the battery. I've seen some threads that people suggested replacing batteries to correct some electrical issue, but I thought no way is this my problem.

I drove myself nuts over this. Ripped my door panel off to check things out and was ready to replace a door latch. Unbelievable!

Anyway, thought I would share this story and hope it helps someone with the same issue.
