Pedal position sensor?

Hey all, so I was driving my 02 xj8 today and everything was fine until suddenly, while pulling away from a stop I got several warning messages on the screen in the gauge cluster. The engine went into limp mode, I also got messages saying "asc failure" "tcs failure" and "gearbox failure." The car would still run but had a very rough idle and just wasnt driving or shifting right.
I had it towed to the dealer and thew told me it was the "pedal position sensor" which they can't buy separately and thus I need a new throttle body for $2,800! This price seems outrageous. So i'm trying to figure out where on the throttle body this sensor is. In the picture attached can anyone tell me what I'm looking for and if it can just be bought and detached separately? I'm thinking it's either the thing I circled in black or red.

It's VERY common for the Throttle Position Sensor to fail on it's connections. Have you looked into this? You would not need to replace the Throttle Body, just clean and make a good connection again. It causes those exact symptoms you describe.
I did it the cheap way on THIS THREAD, and it was still working fine when I sold my car. The other way is to replace the pins in the plug (also shown in that thread in a TSB).
You can see it marked with a blue arrow, and the plug is circled in blue.
