JAGUAR XKR GF Peformance Chip

it could be a magical chip but I think that it might be a classic internet scam. anyone can make a website and whatnot.
for example:
Save The Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus

Great link! nearly as funny as this guy's 'testimonial'
I just received my chip for my 2004 Porsche 996C2S. Firstly, I was a little worred about installation difficulty. I usually don't go any further
than changing my oil, but I thought I would give it a shot. The website stated it is an easy installation, so I thought I would give them the
benefit of the doubt. BAM! I was done in less than 25 minutes. Next thing you know I was cruising down the street, showing real-time gains
of 6 miles per gallon, and the car seems to have a lot more "pep". Thanks guys, I will refer you to all my family and friends!

This "Chip" is just a resistor you have to put in series with the IAT (inlet air temp) sensor to fool the ECU to different settings.(costs $0.25)
And .. yes it works , but i would not do this on my XJR ...

Actually it will not work.
The ECU will learn what the right mixture should be based upon the O2 sensor information during closed loop driving. So it might work a couple of minutes until the ECU knows what the corrections (long term fuel trims) it needs to use in open loop.

Hi AVOS !
I did the mod years ago on another car of mine , it made it more responsive and
(it felt like..) more powerfull.
I believe it's the ignition timing that is effected by this mod , not the fuel mixture.

Dag Popeye68,
All you can do is alter directly the MAF signal, or the temp signal, and the latter is one of the parameters to determine the amount of air that is coming in (and the barometric pressure is also taken into consideration). Ignition timing is also based on engine load (amount of air coming in). Now I certainly don’t know all the programming details from our cars (it is also different almost every 3 years), but I can imagine certain cars with less advanced programming where it could work, but don't think on ours, it will be very risky to say the least.

They will work but be very careful, I would not put on my car as you are putting the entire engine at risk. Best solution is an ECU tune, there are many doing this now and price varies. Failing that go for a quality tuning box, prices vary and unfortunately you do not necessarily get what you pay for. Would recommend one but the only one I can suggest with confidence is Steinberg or Steinbeir but way more expensive than an actual tune
