Default Pink Mary Kay Edition - XJ8 Super V8 VDP

I just came across this on ebay.

Looks like it was custom manufactured by Jaguar for Mary Kay.

Even though it is pink, I thought it was nicely executed.

I saw that car listed at least once before, tho I forget how much the price was then. Guess they didn't get any takers at their price! In that color, would make a nice pimpmobile....

That car was actually special ordered by someone, it was not done for Mary Kay. The story was he special ordered it then went bust, never taking delivery on the car. I think it was for someone in metro New York area.

It is listed as having NAV, but I don't see it in the pictures. Did the 2003 model NAV come with that tiny screen shown in the picture?

The nav screen is the same one used for the stereo, not the type of nav you see nowadays, no color just arrows and some text. It is just an add-on to the stereo head unit, like the integrated phones were. That sticker is very interesting to read, the options are almost the same as the base price of the vehicle.

I would love to have a Super V8 with the XJR R1 package like this one, I also like the rear seat customizations.

Wonder how effective the "Bamboo Brakes" are...particularly when wet?

Quick follow-up question...

Based on this thread, does Jaguar offer a program where any customer can order custom details, such as exterior color?

How would this particular customer have gotten Jaguar to custom paint a Jaguar a non-production color such as pink?

Does a customer pay an extra premium cost and they get any color they want?

Just curious if anyone knows the answer.

May there be mercy on my soul...But I actually like that!

Maybe it is seeing an X308 in a different colour or something but I think it works well, as a one off only!! If such a colour was offered standard it would be daft.

You can really see all the details in the chrome in that colour, like the chrome strips along the top of the rubbing strips on the door. I want some bad style now!!

That back seat is pretty nice. It seems to eliminate a lot of the rear seat leg room though. It also looks like the back seat headrests are the same ones that are used for the front seat. It looks like they tilt back and forth.

I missed the "bamboo brakes" first time around. Nothing like using organic materials whenever possible!

First, I have to apologize to 'cadillac'. I can't stop staring at the picture of your wife on your Signature. Sorry man...

Also, I want to know which one of you are bidding on that car. It's got a bid of $30k already.

While the pink is definately not my thing, that car truly is an amazing vehicle. 37 miles on it, and all the upgrades, very cool! It still looks factory new.

It is strange that the poster of the auction did such a poor job of the listing. That takes away from the credibility of the auction. I'd be hesitant to send $30k - $70k to the lister just because of misspellings and a poor layout. For that kind of money, they should have hired someone to make the listing pop.

Anyways, thanks for the find 'BrownRobin', it was fun to look at.

The eBay ad states 12000 miles.

That's his wife??

Really nice... I like the mileage best. First thing I'd do is paint it. Next thing I'd do is drive the hell out of it.

The rear seats are not really a custom option since that's the way you can get them in the UK.
So the guy paid $70K in options, accounting for the R1 with Montreal at about $7K and the rear seats at $5K, that make it $58K for the pink paint and floor mats.
What a smart buyer!!!!!!!!!!
