Have always wondered what they'd look like with a darker grill... and the answer is AWESOME!

As if I wasn't already jealous enough that mine is red, and not black...
I wonder what a darker chrome would look like though? Obviously straight black won't suit my car, but something in between could work

IMHO you should look at getting clear indicator lenses next

Thank you all. Grand total of one half a can and 15 minutes and one updated look was born, lol. I'm loving it.

Whats up with the lenses? Fill me in scoop.

Awesome looking ride, that really ads 'bite' to it....

Be careful with the suggestion of the clear lenses. Indicator signals are required to be certain colors by law (like red for brakes), but if you put in an amber bulb with a clear lens that may be legal? Just ask a local constable about it or if you have inspections, go to the station and as them.

..: Klearz : Jaguar

don't ask about the details... that site confuses the hell out of me :s
I believe as long as they still glow the right colour, then you should be fine. You can get fancy bulbs that look clear but still glow orange, which IMHO would look better than having orange bulbs
Or, of course you could have a play with LED's! No idea if they will clash with the blown bulb checks though

I wonder how it looks when you also black out lamp the chrome lens rings and the chrome bumper mouldings { ow wait Sean has that and it looks great }...then lower it 1inch and black out the 20" .

Maybe i try that ,i can peel it of when i want .

We have the 'Sport' XJ with vertical slat grills in the UK that remind me of this mod, and it looks a bit X-type too - stainless grills are unmistakably R spec. Saying that, I might pick a set up to mod

Default You had me at hello...

Not to hi-jack this thread, but I've been wanting to black out the grill, too. Onebadass motivated me to get out the can of Bumper Black that I used to black out my chrome window trim, and, voila! The cool thing about doing something like this is you can change it back to the stock look in a matter of minutes (chrome paint). I like the "R" emblem, too - gotta get me one!

Thanks, WD! Only to get (hopefully) faster. Have to get the Arden AJ13 body kit I picked up installed first.

Definitely! Would love to see how it looks with the kit as well.

I have a set of Arden side skirts sitting in a wardrobe at the moment. They've got about a 6-12 month wait before they get to the top of the to-do list though
I'm hoping they'll give the impression of the car sitting an inch or so lower, without actually lowering it... although there's a nice set of Mina springs sitting on Ebay at the moment too!

*grumble grumble* stupid throttle body issue *grumble grumble*

I've seen a black XJR that had the bumper trims blacked out. They made the car look a bit weird... like there was something broken on the bumpers, with a random piece that stood out, above the rest of the bumper.

Your opinions may vary though

It sounds a bit weird, because they're the only chrome pieces on the car, but they really do look good

Oversea and you pick them Arden stuff up like hot buns......

Really like the front bumper ,nice for unlimited autobahn speed, not really necessary in my country where the speed limit is about 70mph ,but Germany is only a stone throw away from Here ...

Are you gonna lower it with Arden springs also ,the kit needs that and put bigger wheels on it?

Thats why i keep the cleanest set of boomerangs ,because it also looks classy with the chrome ..so i can always change back .
