Hello! I need help figuring out more about the ground cables under the car on the passenger side. I know one is the black ground that runs from the frame - to the transmission bolt. But mine has another long ground with red tips on each end. They were connected together to the frame, red ground was first on the frame, then the black ground was above it both bolted to the frame. I know the all black ground connected to the transmission bolt. But the other red one? I can’t seem to figure out or remember where the hell it connected too! If you know, please help! Every where I researched just shows the black ground going from the frame, to the transmission bolt. I don’t see this red ground anywhere. I want to say it was connected to the starter or somewhere near that? Just lost. Thank you for your time!

 

I guess that the red ground is additional by someone. You can connect it basically the same way as black. It can be connected under starter attachment bolt.

 

Thanks for the info! I swore I took it off the starter attachment bolt but could not remember!. Everyone’s else’s seemed too not have the red one on there’s, it was just the black ground. So I agree. I definitely believe it was added by someone.

 

It’s probably not a bad idea to add an additional engine ground cable as that factory ground strap underneath can look quite crusty after 21-26 years has gone by the X308 platform. I’ve replaced several customers failing factory ground cables at the battery due to them getting way too hot.
