Is it possible to turn OFF the parking sensors...

I'm guessing here, but mine are disconnected at the moment as it's being built up after paint....mine does a long beep, like to backup limit is reached, so disconnecting the sensors won't help. I'd suggest unplugging the speaker, but it's a bit of a pain to get to. It's under the rear parcel shelf, again on mine, maybe it's somewhere easier for you to get to. Do you want it off? hope this helps!

Hi Sean!
I'm getting that long beep when I first put it in reverse. I've read that this is a fault indicator, but since I'm not sure if this function is always working (the parking sensor function), I don't know if there's anything more to do to make it work correctly except put the car in reverse.
Thank you!

Here is another backup sensor thread on the forum
Hi
I found this tread on the backup sensors dated 8/27/2010.
Here is the link:

You might want to connect member Stu 1986. He has some hands-on knowledge. He is located in the England.

Basically if you want the sensors to not work at all unplug the sensors from the module in the trunk fuse box and from here I think you can also disconnect the speaker. Look for a solid blue & a solid red wire-these go to the speaker. (According to the wiring diagram) Either cut them or disconnect them that should stop your speaker from sounding.
Hope this helps
Stu.

I want to get them working... so I'll test it and check that wiring too. Also going to shut the PC down tonight to install the software.

I thought you wanted to turn them off? Either way by following the wiring tips we've given you, it should be easy to trace your problem. It is more than likely a loose wire or faulty sensor.
You will want to jack the back of the car up, or if you don't have a jack & stands reverse the car up a steep slope and stop just before the back wheels go over the crest. This will leave your overhang accessible. You may laugh at my suggestion but I've had to do this a couple of times in the past to access the underside of coaches when I've had to do a get me home fix! Gladly I won't have to do that now I've switched to a new (better) company!
