Potential New Owner

Hi All - I may become a new member to the forum. I plan on looking at a 2000 VDP w/ 32k tomorrow currently owned by the original owner. I believe the engine is the 4.0. Owner indicates the body is mint and so is the interior.
I have read up on the the various issues pointed out (transmission & engine); however, I wanted some advice as to what other things I need to look out for. Obviously, I cannot look inside the tranny or engine so is there another way to tell if a car has these issues?
Also, are there any other trouble spots I would need to be aware of that you recommend I check out (suspension, bushings, etc.)?
Were there any recalls for this vehicle?
Basically this car is owned by a woman who lives in the same town she works in. That's why is has such low miles. If I buy the car, I plan on using it sparingly as I have other cars that I use for commuting. The VDP would be used for weekend pleasure driving.
Thanks to all who answer

I own an '01 VDP and love it. It is pushing 160,000 miles and running just fine. As far as issues with a 2000 model, the most serious possible problems could involve the transmission or Nikasil engine. You can search the X308 forums for more info on these issues.
With so few miles, I wouldn't worry about the transmission. Low compression due to Nikasil sleeve breakdown should only be an issue if it's been fed high-sulfur fuel. Again, with so few miles, I wouldn't worry too much about it. However, as with any car, run a Car Fax and have a good Jaguar mechanic look it over.
The only other hazard that comes to mind is to mind your ego... you'll get lots of compliments an a beautiful XJ8! Let us know how it goes.
OK, I just noticed that you've already read up on the transmission and engine. Double-check the condition of the upper timing chain tensioners. One other common problem is with the thermostat housing. If the one on that car is NOT aluminum, change it now! The original plastic ones can fail and leave you stranded. You might look for things like minor body rust at emblems and such, sagging headliner, and cold A/C. If I've forgotten something major, I'm sure someone will remind us. Otherwise, like I said, there's not much to worry about!
