Hello
I currently own a 92 Mercedes SL300-24 with an inline 6 and have been eying the XJ8 for quite some time....there is one that has caught my eye, its a 2002 XJ8 with 160,000kms on the clock, it has been serviced at the dealer since 2004 and independently after. As far as i am aware and educated myself, the 2002 does not suffer from the waterpump, throttle body and plastic chain tensioner issues...is this correct? but will still have to look out for bearing and worn out bushes, the car also has a sunroof railing problem
any thing else i have to look out for?

The '02 can still have the plastic tensioners. Mine did. Check the manufacture date. If Sept or later '01 you are most likely OK. The plastic to metal conversion occurred in August '01.
I would suggest that you go through the owner's manual and verify that each and every one of the functions of the car work correctly, from door lock, to seat movement, to A/C.
