Default Power Steering Module location

I'm having trouble with my power steering in my '99 X308. There is some assistance but it is far heavier than it should be. I've done all the obvious things like replacing fluid and bleeding the system, and had the pump pressure tested which was in spec. I suspect it may be an electrical fault as on a couple of occasions the steering come back to life like Lazarus for a day or so then fades away again. I have a cheap and dodgy scanner that turns up a speed sensor fault to the body control module, which leads me to think there maybe servotronic issue. Anyone able to point out where the power steering control module is located and how I can access it, and is it possible to bench test it?

If you've got a speed sensor fault that may be throwing off the servotronic, since it's speed-based.
If you don't have it already, you should download the x308 workshop manual from the large files section http://www.mediafire.com/file/bu2w7j...anual.pdf/file
Section 211-02 describes details of the PS system that may help you with diagnostics.
