First, the first code P0327 happen in June of 2013 and we resolved it we thought. Now what happen I was driving the Jaguar xj8 2000 from work and slowed down to let a truck in front of me to may the same left turn I was going to make was almost stopped. I push the excelrater to go engine revered but car would not move engine can on and restricted performance and gearbox faulty along with the ABS light also. Then it finally crawled up hill so I could get it in the parking, their was no limp mode. The Reverse is great and the gear changing is smooth just want go. I know that the P0327 is the knock sensor can this be causing the transmission to have the code of P1722. Please I need help and I been researching changing the transmission it is a lot of work to get it out and then putting it back in. Please know that about 8 month before I had replace the timing chains and we think we had lose some of the transmission fluid and I took a place to have checked but he said it was fine but I just have this feeling and their a small transmission leak. We are thinking of pulling the pan and the fluid we see is clean. So what kind fluid do we put in and how much should it have.

Your XJ8 has the ZF 5HP24 transmission and uses an ATF that meets the ESSO LT71141 specification. There are a number of fluids in the auto parts store that do that. The Castrol Import ATF being one.
By pulling the pan and replacing the filter you are changing about 50% of the fluid in the transmission meaning you need about 7 quarts to refill it. There is a specific refill procedure that should be observed. Here is a link to that info: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...uestion-78968/

Sutton:
RP can be caused by many things, including knock sensors, and it restricts the engine rpm to 3000. It sounds from your description that RP is not your only issue. A far as the transmission goes, it sounds like it might very well be donw for. Don't waste your money on fluid at this point- it will not fix a mechanical problem.
