I did a succesfull "re-learning" on my '99 XJR some days ago (Mercedes trans).

My issue was upshifting on low rpm's , and only downshifting with full trottle while overtaking (normal mode).


(EDIT: I did not reset anything)

- First accelerate with light (constant)throttle in "2" till 2400rpm , release throttle and back to about 1000rpm.
Repeat minimal 4 times.

- Do the same in "3" and "4" . Try to stay in 3rd gear when in "3" , same in "4".

- Stop the car and let it idle in "P" for min. 10 minutes. (storing)


This did the trick for me , the car is now upshifting on higher RPM's , and feels fast again.

The 10min. idle storing sequence is tricky , what if you are in a traffic jam for more than 10min. ?
Or as i did , an engine flush with 20min. on high idle ....

I don't know in this works on a ZF transmission , probably not...

Or does your car has a 722.6 ?

Maybe an adaption of the TSB attached to post #17?

The 10 minutes is critical unless you have IDS.
