Puddy cat hot under the collar
Hi I am just aut to change the water pump on my Xj8...(I'll do the stat at the same time).I have a couple of questions.
well ok three q's
1. Anyone know where in the uk is the best price for these?(I got a great guy on ebay (£77) but he's away till end Aug).
2. Whats the best way to flush it to make sure that all those rouge impellers don't trash her new pump?
3. Is there anything I might benefit from knowing about this task
(I have change w/pumps on every xj6 I have owned but not on the v8)
Thanks in advance and I do hope to contribute to the group not just leech tech know how

Hello there,
Replaced both the pump and stat on mine last weekend.
Simple enough, so if you have done some before, no problem. Access is reasonable. I was nervous around the plastic stat housing, but with steady pressure on the spanner had no problems.
15mm socket on a breaker bar for the drive belt.
8mm socket to remove the pulley, then the mounting bolts.
Pump pliers to compress the hose clips if you still have the originals.
And assembly is the reverse of removal as they say in the Haynes manual!
Bought my parts from North East Jaguar Spares. On E bay and the net. Very helpful chap.
Had a poke around the exposed ports, but did not find any bits of the old impeller.
