How was the prep work for cleaning up the old foam on the speaker?

Cleaning adhesive and foam off of a speaker is not my favorite type of "car repair", however it really wasn't bad. I used a product called goof-off and a small flat blade screwdriver to clean the mating surface on the speaker frame. The actual speaker cone had very little residual foam/glue on it, luckily. I gently rubbed the mating edge of the cone using a cloth very lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

The supplied foam piece fit the speaker so perfectly that gluing it into place was fairly easy. Just make sure the speaker is centered and moves up and down freely. The directions detail everything pretty well.

Default Carpet always wet

Jeff sorry for stealing your thread again, but I always get a quick a response from you and Convincor this way. Ok, to my go to guys, Jeff and Convincor, I lifted up my passenger and driver seat carpet because I saw the floor mats wet underneath and lo and behold, I squeezed out probably 3 cups of water, dried it out for 2 days. Now after I put the seats and carpets back together, I felt the carpet and it's wet again, I see AC drains water on my garage floor, but where else would the water be coming from?

strange that it would be both sides.

edit: this thread says there are 2 drain tubes.
one on each side.

Maniqz,

I have been underneath my wife's 2004 XJ8 (x350) all day, but honestly I have not had to address the issue you are asking about so I wouldn't know how to advise you.

Convincor seems to have a great deal more mechanical background/experience than I, so I'm glad he was available to address your question.

Now I'm off to post in the X350 forum regarding a transmission question. Man, I love the MB gearbox in my XJR compared to that ZF thing in my wife's car. It's a good transmission, don't get me wrong... but so much more difficult to work on.

I think I may have over-torqued the new upper front shock mounts I recently installed. I torqued them like I did the upper mounts on my XJ8, but upon reading JTIS on the subject, it appears the adaptive shocks are torqued MUCH less. about 11 to 13 ft lbs. I loosed and re-torqued them and my perception is that the ride is better. In theory that leaves more range within which the spongy material can absorb bumps, or it may be a placebo effect. Either way they are properly torqued now, and they were way tighter than 13 ft lbs. It was very difficult to loosen them because I had them so tight.

Side note. I love the way a black car looks in the rain...
Looking good Jeff, my Jag looks almost exactly like yours except mine is black on black, black XJR rules!

Jaguar XJR Vanden Plas LWB | eBay

EDIT: Weird.. It doesn't work when I do it either. For anyone that's curious, the car we're trying to link to is a supercharged Vanden Plas. Just look up "Jaguar XJR" on eBay and you'll find it

This car would surface on a pending holiday weekend when I'll have plenty of free time & adult beverages. Most of my E-Bay purchases tend to involve both of the aforementioned elements lol.

Hey, I have a little question for you guys.

I noticed that my passenger side front tire has less clearance from the fender than my drivers side (LHS) tire. It doesn't look very pronounced in the pictures, but one side is clearly higher than the other; about a finger higher.

I can get two fingers between the tire and the finder on the drivers side, just one finger on the passenger side.

Anyone have any feedback on this anomaly?

I was under the impression that only springs and/or spring seats could actually affect vehicle height, but I am not familiar with the CATS system, so I just don't know.

I spent today in non-mechanical mode, but I did improve my x308 a little. Compounding and waxing was a bit easier when I was in my 20s, my arms will be sore tomorrow!

These pictures were taken before I was finished, I hadn't even touched the top yet..but it was getting dark soon and I wanted some nice pictures to post...
