prince...i am from the nyc area so i can not give you an exact estimate for the car in your neck of the woods , not that there would be a great difference anyway. From what you have listed re , mechanicals-outside condition and work needed in the cabin, I would guestimate around 5k (upper end) to about 4300(lower end.) obviously the car has to be seen and checked out in person.

Your not to bad on the milage at 70k ...but this becomes a critical marker for when the expensive repairs start to kick in. Having additional info about the car before you got it is noteworthy. Was it a everyday ride?, used as a workhorse (i.e.limo) or driven to church on sundays? and thats about it.

I have bought some auction cars in my area ...in one case I got a great price on it and held up mechanically as well. on another i paid more and also had to put pretty big money to keep it .My 2000xj8 long came from a dealer I had done business with before so i was able to identify/verify the previous owner and they had documentation on the car being serviced by jaguar up to 2009.

You might want to put it up for sale on "car guru."..they typically will price the car and once posted indicate if the car being sold is fair, good or great value depending on its condition.Good luck

I bought my '03 R just a few months ago after several months of shopping. Around here - northern California - I think you could sell it fairly quickly for $5k and might be able to approach $7k depending on the exact nature of the dings. In my searching, I only found one '03 R cheaper than the one I bought. That one was $5,500 and it had been ridden hard and put away wet. My car, with some needs (see my cooling system thread...) but with new tires, brakes and 100,00 miles was $6,500. The next option up was a cleaner car with fewer obvious needs but 14x,000 miles for $7,600. Really nice '03s - like low mileage cream puffs - were $9k+. FWIW, I couldn't find a single R - even an x300 - for under $4,500. In fact, that $4,500 car was a '96 (IIRC) that had more wrong than right.

Car prices really do vary by where you are, but that's what things looked like this summer in NorCal.
