Q: XJR - access to differential filler plug

There are several threads that talk about access to the differential filler plugs on XJ8's. There are also mentions of the anti-sway bar getting in the way on XJR or Sport variants.
So....
can anyone report success on accessing the filler plug on an XJR without removing the anti-sway bar? If so, a detailed description would be appreciated.
It feels as if it "might" be possible when probing in the area by hand.
Also looking for the thread size on the differential breather.

Yes, it is doable without removing anything else. I did this just 2 weeks ago.
Its a 1/2 inch socket, and i bought a short 1/2-plug with a wrench-pattern in the other end, then used a 19 mm wrench/hard...(sorry for my English) to remove the plug. A bit of a PITA, but its definetely doable. I have a car-lifting device in my garage and it helped alot. I would not want to do this with floorjacks.
I sucked the old fluid out with a manual vacum-pump, then filled new fluid in with the same pump reversed. Apx 1,9 liters. But it will come out from the hole when its enough.
Be ware of the fact that it should be one sort of fluid for the non/diff cars and another kind of fluid for the diff/equipped cars.
Good luck! Kimmo/Sweden.

Thank you very much for sharing your method.
After looking around, I think I found the exact same tool. They were called:
"gearwrench socket adaptor"
A set of three for 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" square drive sockets was $20.
The 1/2" one was marked with instructions to use a 19mm wrench to drive it. Just like yours.
The tool consists of a square drive end, topped with a hex end, and finally a knurled disk for spinning with your thumb.
As far as I know, unless fitted with a LSD by the owner, the differentials on all X308 are open and use normal 90W gear lubricant.
BTW, absolutely no problem with your English.![Big Grin](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
ps. if anyone knows the thread size for the vent at the top, please do tell.
