Quick Question Re: Unprogrammed Keys

Was wondering, as to our XJ8s, if we try to start the car with an un-programmed (i.e. blank) key does the engine either crank but not start, or not crank at all. ?

I can't remember but I don't think it will even crank.

I just tried last month, nothing will happen.

I got a new cut key but dont have time getting it program yet.

The cut VALET key looks correct but will NOT turn in the door or ignition.
I guess I will drive to AUTOBAHN and try to get it straightened out.

Well, that sucks .. You'd think they'd know how to cut their keys @ AM .. btw, I was thinking you cut your own keys & have the machine to do it, but I guess you only can program them .. ?
