Default R1 Brake Rotor Parts

Hello all,

I am looking to replace my rotors and pads, 2003 XJR with R1 performance brakes. Im having a hard time finding the rotors for a decent price, the majority i find are in the UK,and are selling for about $300+ a piece. I have found a few cheaper Centric rotors on Rockauto (Centric 12520020), but even with those they arent very clear on which model they are for.

If anyone has bought rotors recently in North America please give me some info or brake parts numbers.

Thanks

It looks like Partsgeek has the Eurospare brand set for the front for $270.48 (US) and the rear set for $243.48 (US), both with free shipping. That's $513.96 for all four shipped.

They claimed to be for "w/ Factory Cross Drilled Brake Disc". None of my Jaguars have had the R1 brake package so I'm not sure, but I though I would try to help you look.

The page I was on is here:
03 2003 Jaguar XJR Brake Rotor - Brake - Beck Arnley, Brembo, Centric, Eurospare, Genuine, Pagid, Pilenga, Wagner, Zimmermann, Front, Front Left, Front Right, Rear, Rear Left, Rear Right - PartsGeek

Scroll down to the 7th and 8th rotors listed.

Hi,

as I learned from lots of researches, I ended up keeping the EBC D1600D discs (front) and D1601D (rear) in my mind. Next time when I need new rotors, I'll get these, as they're available even here in Europe. It's quite hard getting R1 discs between Jaguar expense costs and low-cost-china-discs-warping-as-soon-as-braking-for-the-first-time.

If you take a look at xkstore.at, they'll offer you the exact part no's - so you can check availability with your suppliers.

Good luck, Alexander

What brand are those? Are they their own branded parts? Or possibly Eurospares?

Best pricing I've found for genuine Brembo was SNG Barratt, but it's been quite a while since I looked. And no, they weren't cheap.

Yes, they're Eurospare discs. I got a set (front and rear) a year ago and use them with genuine Brembo pads. First, they had been great! After 3-4000 km daily driving, they warped quite badly (front AND rear) bringing me almost to the point of grinding them/getting them straightened.
And yes, when fitting I was meticulously taking care of any imperfections on the wheel hub and the rims. But as they were running fine for the first few thousand km, it must have been the rotors which were warping. Last year I even took off the rotors several times to check and carefully(!!!) sand down any corrosion which has built up over the years on the hub and the rims.

But just before I was at that point bringing the car to the shop to get the discs straigtened, the wobble decreased slowly. So today, after 30.000km driving, I can report just a slight wobble anymore.
But for my next replacement, nevertheless I'll give the EBC discs a chance.

PS: The reason for not choosing the EBC rotors in the first place is, that I found out about them months after having replaced with the Eurospare's.

That is route I went 10 years ago for my 2003 XJR with the R package. Prices were about the same and they have held up well. They are still on the car 50,000 miles and three track weekends later. Brake pads have been replaced at least once in that time.

Had a devil of a time getting the fronts off. The rears were worse, ended up hitting them so hard they came off in pieces and I live in a rust free area.

FWIW, the centric catalog on their website has a little "pic" button, which gives you rotor dimensions.

Looking at the EBC site there's some interesting options - used their brakes in the past on several cars, caterham 7 V12 E Type and Lotus. Dependable stuff.
