I had my windshield replaced a few years ago & the rain sensing wiper ceased to work. How big of an ordeal is it to pick up part LJD6018AA & install it or is there a special contact pad also required. Or best case scenario the windshield tech. simply forgot to reconnect. My life was a bit more hectic w/ work etc. back then & It was never a pressing issue as I had other more prominent tasks to get to. Now It's time to remedy it.
Thanks

I can't think that the sensor has failed, or the module, although it is possible that the windshield tech maybe didn't reconnect it, maybe check that first? (page 2312 of the shop manual)

After some more research the most likely culprit of the rain sensor not working after a windshield replacement is improper clarity at the sensor. If the rear view mirror and sensor have been attached improperly to the new windshield the view from the sensor can be obstructed by adhesive or "bubbles" confusing the sensor. The sensor must be clear, if yours looks like this (see below), it won't work. It must be absolutely clear for the sensor to detect the rain drops.

Yes looking @ mine it appears to have an opaque green/blue pad so I will start w/ checking the connection then replacing the pad.
Thanks !

KC, did you have success resolving this situation? On your replacement windshield, did you get the one with the blue tint on the top or just the standard clear (or all green if you will) WS?
On my 2003 SV8 I’m in the early stages of getting my windshield replaced. My WS has been replaced at some time in its life but I want to get it right the first go around. I want to get the blue strip at the top but if it has to be clear to make the auto wipers work, then clear it is. Also, would you recommend I order the OEM WS pad vs the one that comes with the safelite WS?

Negative sir, I'm glad you bumped this thread to remind me. I do recall my Safelite guy asking me if I had rain sensing technology I erroneously said no. So maybe they have something compatible ?! My windshield has the strip but no sensor pad as of yet lol.
