RE: Rattle at cold startup?
Well, I guess I should have searched first. It appears it is the tensioners
I have another question now. We have no jaguar dealership in my city. Is there another dealership that could possibly do this?
What all parts do you guys think they will need? I seen a kit on ebay that says a machanic can install it in two hours?
I am trying to cut all the cost I can as I just purchased this car and was not expenecting to replace these so soon.

If your mechanic was in there already, what did he have apart? A kit for the tensioners that can be installed in 2 hours? Man if I could do that in 2 hours I would be rich.
It is like an 8 hour job to do tensioners. If you are going in there to do them, do them all. When you half *** it you will be paying again to get things done.
If they were done then I wouldnt worry. As said could be the lack of oil pressure on first start. Look inside the throttle housing and see if you have any oil there. If so the 98 motor probably has some blowby. Most commonly however if the noise exists after tensioners done, VVT units make a rattle on first start.
That may be common only to my area however due to differing climates, different noises can mean different things.
