Rear bump-stop replacements........

when i had the wheels of six months ago i noticed that my rear bump stops were ' worn ' , this was now evident in that the whole of the rubber had separated from the aluminum frame and was effectively doing nothing, the car had covered 87k miles on a 1999 car
this can be seen below

but worse than this, when i came to replace the bump stops i found that the near side one had fallen off the frame all together

so with new units in hand ( £12.50 each plus vat from Jag ) i set about replacing the bump stops,
make sure you take all and any necessary safety actions while jacking up any car,
with the wheel off and the car secure, i undid the defective unit , this was as simple as undoing four torx bolts

then i installed the new units ensuring i put some lock-tight on the bolt threads ( as per the original ones )

did this on both sides of the car and can feel more confident in the rear now, might be me, but is sounds a little quieter now, especially while going over road humps
new and old compared

while i was under there , i took the opportunity to under-seal the whole rear arch , no signs of any rust at all, and the new sealer will ensure this for a few more years
