Rear drivers door sometimes wont lock

Hi guys. Just bought a '99 XJR, 74K miles, and it is great except one thing. Sometimes (not always) when I lock the car the drivers side rear door does not lock. The little silver button moves, and I can hear the lock motor whirring, but it doesn't quite move far enough to lock. If I lock it manually then when I return to the car and unlock it unlocks fine. Its just the locking.
Sorry to start off with such a boring little problem! Im hoping its something simple I can maybe fix myself ? Maybe a bit of lubrication or something needs tightening up ? If anyone can point me in the right direction Id be grateful. Does anyone know if there are instructions available online for dismantling the door trim to get at the mechanism ? Or should I get a Haynes manual or similar ?
Oh yes, one other thing. I now notice that the ceiling fabric above the rear passengers heads is hanging down slightly.(was too busy enjoying the drive to look up!)Any ideas how to fix that ?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers!

could possibly be a door latch actuator
been replacing those since the early 90"s,
headliner"s at our dealership we have an interior repair guy come out and repair headliners
removes headliner, removes old fabric and padding from headliner board and installs new fabric
sometimes there will be a wrinkle on both sides of the headliner towards the rear opening of the sunroof but usually comes out in time

I dont suppose a Haynes type manual will cover that. Detailed instructions would be a real help.
