Default Rear View Mirror Repair

The auto dimming rear view mirror in my car is leasking internally and would prefer to get it repaired rather than just put a used one it. Has anyone sent theirs out recently and where to? I know I've heard of places doing this in the US but drawing a blank on names at the moment.

Since we don't know what the car is or 'with twilight sentinel' or 'with rain sensing' you cannot just 'throw' a mirror on it and call it good.

Just out of curiosity, what would make a mirror go bad? Is it heat related?
I don't believe I have ever had one go bad.

Not sure what causes them to leak, assume there is an internal seal of some sort. I do know that the fluid is highly corrosive and can cause some major issues for your interior if it gets out of the mirror assembly. For now I need to just remove the mirror to make sure that doesn't happen.

I've seen it quite a few times actually on various cars, guess I just have bad luck.

The later production mirrors and the repaired mirrors use a type of gel pack instead of the liquid originally used.

Thanks for that. Something to keep in mind should mine ever start with problems.

Hey RandyS! We actually keep these in stock because we replace them so frequently. There are two types of mirrors with yellow and white wiring harness. The difference is the rain sensors as someone else mentioned. The company Sybesmas (sp?) is now Global Battery Solutions and they are wonderful! We send probably at least ten to them each year for them to refurbish them and they have a quick turn around time period too, usually like a week. Best of Luck!!

Also if the glass portion of the mirror ever cracks or breaks ( I got to pay the "stupid tax" when I dropped a recently refurbished one) they can replace that as well!

Thank you Sabrina! It is a wonderful thing to have found a service provider you can trust.
Your post will give many forum members a solution that was previously nebulous.

Recevied my mirror back from Radar-Mirror yesterday and got it back in the car. Looks perfect, but repair time was a lot longer than expected. They received the mirror on 7/6 and I received it back on 7/25, was supposed to be a 2-3 day turnaround. Luckily I was doing other work on the car and didn't need it at the time, but could have been frustrating if I needed the car. Not really a fan of driving without the rear view.

In short, Radar-Mirror did a nice job, but turnaround time was pretty lengthy.

Default Shipping

Recently, I have noticed a general increase in shipping times. That may or may not be the case in your delay, however it is worth noting in time sensitive applications.

Not in this case unfortunately. Package was delivered to them on 7/6 (I shipped on 6/29) and a call to them last week confirmed that it was there and not done yet. Looks like they repaired it as soon as I called and shipped back right away. I guess I should have called sooner. Just wanted to let anyone know that was thinking of sending their mirror there. The repair is flawless so I can definitely recommend them if you're not in a huge hurry.
