Rear Wheel Hub

Rear Wheel Hub
I am getting a noise from one of the rear wheel bearings. I have a complete used unit for the side I want to replace. The problem is that the hub on the car has long studs to suit the "Celtic" alloys that are fitted, and the spare unit has short studs that appear to be a permanent fit.
I assume that when I fit the refurbished hub carrier unit, I will have to put the long studded wheel hub into the refurbished hub.
I had originally thought the wheel studs were screw-in. Guess I was wrong. Any thoughts?? Thanks Bill W.

From experience they are a tight press fit, so if you really wanted you could press them out and swap round, though for the long ones it could be tricky without separating the hub from the knuckle. Short studs can be removed in place.
I don't know if that is particularly recommended though, but it certainly is possible.
When I removed the front hubs on my car I had to remove the studs for what I was doing, rears didn't need it but I think they're the same fit type.
New studs are available anyway so I think it would be ok.
