Default Removal of Wood Covering Passenger Airbag

How do you remove the wood panel covering the passenger side airbag? I need to change the center vent. The wood panel that surrounds the center vent easily popped off. I was told that the wood panel covering the passenger side airbag should pop out in the same manner. I'm afraid to pull too hard for fear of damaging the wood panel.

Please advise!

keep tugging, it should just pop off, it also has 2 fabric catch loops to hang from attached to the inner dash. Replace the clips onto the wood panel before installing back.

I would also disconnect battery due to airbag dangers

Default Revisiting Wood Dash/Airbag

Hi Sean/Everyone,
I am replacing the wood dash over the airbag, and was able to get the old one off without issue. It looks like you need to remove the airbag to attach the bracket with the straps to the inner dash. Is that correct, or is there a way to remove the straps on the dash piece?
Thanks for any advice/thoughts.

Yep, bag removal to attach the bracket, it's a bit of a faff, but it's a safety feature.
