Replace driver side rear door glass - 1998 XJ8 help.
Hello, i have a 1998 XJ8 141,000 mi. car and i have been trying to replace the rear driver side door glass. I must be missing something. I have searched and read everything i can find but i just can't get this glass in. It is raining in Pflugerville and i would really like to wrap this up. I have taken off the door panel, regulator/motor, and the horizontal chrome piece with felt on it to get more room but the bend in the glass stops the travel and positioning of the glass. I am trying to be very careful not to break the glass ... there just doesn't seem to be enough room to get it in the door.
Has anyone changed one of these recently that could shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.

You have to slacken the rear glass guide to give sufficient clearance to slide the glass down into the door.
This is the JTIS (Jaguar Technical Information System) procedure for fitting the door glass:

You don't have sufficient posts yet to be able to download PDF's from the forum so I've put the same PDF on my MediaFire account. You can download it from this link:

Installed glass, thanks again for replies.
I was able to replace the glass quite easily knowing to move the rear glass guide. Someone had been in the door before ... the glass guide had been rtv'ed quite heavily in place and did not move. Once i was able to pry it away from its mounting the glass went straight in.
Again, thanks...
Again, thanks...
