Default Replace Gaskets?

I have removed the camshaft covers on my 2000 VDP to check if the timing chain tensioners have been upgraded, to find that indeed, they have already been changed (hooray!!!). My question is: the camshaft cover gasket and all other seals are in great condition - no distortion and they are flexible to the touch. Should I replace them anyway.

Sorta depends on how much you enjoyed pulling the covers. I have had mine off and back on twice without replacing the gaskets without any leaks.

In fact I chickened out before receiving your reply and ordered the parts. Certainly looks like it would have been ok though.

You did order the Lincoln LS FelPro set at less than half the cost of any Jaguar parts, didn't you?

Does the Lincoln LS FelPro set include the cover gaskets or just the seals. And why - is this the Ford connection?

Check the #4 post.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...my-turn-52434/

Between the tensioners and the gaskets the Lincoln LS parts are more than $100 less than the exact same parts in a Jaguar bag.

Test Point - many thanks for your replies - another question - while I am waiting for the cam cover gaskets to arrive I am planning a front suspension rebuild. The parts seem reasonably cheap except for the lower contol arm which appears to have an integral lower balljoint. Do you know if the lower balljoint can be pressed out. Is there anything I need to know about suspension parts. I will check out the forum, so any pointers would be really helpful - don't want to get caught out again like I did with the cam cover gaskets.

I have not had to get into the suspension . . . yet so links to previous threads is the best I can do. Reverend Sam did an excellent video on the upper bushings but hasn't got to the lower ones yet. Try the 'search' feature at the top or the FAQ sticky on the 'XK8/R forum.
