Replaced Security Locking Control Module (SLCM)
Our 2001 XJ8 started having the brake stop light not working/and it stays on until you disconnect battery cable issues.
Thank you Forum member OldMike.
He has a 2003 XJ8 and he kindly sent me a photo of his VCATS list that show the SLCM software version as the same as ours (008).
I purchased a used Security Locking Control Module (2003 XJ8) from Ebay (Prime Auto Parts).
The SLCM jaguar part# is LNG2600HB (with software version 008 - reference from our VCATS label in the trunk area).
Here is the weblink to ebay auction:

Car was out of action for 2 weeks, while I tried in vain to have someone locally replace a microchip on the SLCM board. I purchase some of these chips from Digikey website.
Chip on board is 71042SE (replacement chip BTS409L1 chip from Digikey.com).
Finally had locally computer service remove chip and solder in new chip.
Looks they probably used too much heat and it appears that they damaged the new chip.
Prime Auto Parts took my best offer of $175.00.
I just popped the used module (plugged in 2 harness connector and clicked into it into the bottom of trunk fusebox enclosure. A 5 minute job. Then reconnected the negetive battery cable.
Took a test drive with no issues, brake stop light functioning properly, no more warning messages.
I reprogrammed our key fobs using the instructions provided in one of this forum threads.
Here is a jpeg of the fob programming information (click on the image to enlarge it):
If you have more than 1 fob to reprogram, then headlamp flash twice one first fob, headlamp flash three times on second fob, etc.
