Replacement Door Control Module

Replacement Door Control Module
Being new to Jaguars, and having just purchased a 1999 XJ8 Vanden Plas, could anyone tell me, if I fit a replacement "Door Control Module", does it need to be programmed, and do I have to get it done at a Dealership, or is it something I can do myself. Any help would be appreciated.

Terry it depends on the replacement - they're programmable units. Generally if you get the same model year, the part will plug and play.
To find out the exact module the car's fitted with, you've to check the VCATS list located in or around the spare wheel well in the boot/trunk.
see this doc for compatibility,

Hi
I need to look at the VCAT list when I had a problem with the Instrument Cluster module (Major Instrument Pack).
Here is a photo I took showing the location of the VCAT list in the trunk area near the spare tire (in this thread's posting # 5):

I too may be having a problem with the rear door module on 2000 xjr.
i am getting SCP message that it is open ended circuit. I measured the resistance of my disconnected module gold pins (SCP + -) and I am getting infinity Ohms. The pins are the first two in the third row of connector socket on the right. ( module sitting face up on table , connector sockets on the bottom).
Any one able to check resistance on thiers to compare? I don't want to throw a part at the kitty if its not that (door locks and windows work ok). I have other CAN issues I am trying to troubleshoot with my auto enginuity w/ jag enhancement not getting any response to TCM or Instrument Module as well.
