Replacement of Driver's (Left) Door Actuator
I know there is a great video on Youtube that show how to remove the driver's door actuator in an XK8. Is there a similar video (or thread) on how to do it on a XJ8?
I have heard that the whole window frame on the XJ8 has to be removed (there is no window frame on the XK8 and that is what makes that unit more accessible I am told).
I am good at figuring things out but if there is already a step by step I am hoping tho avoid the blood usually associated with this process.
I have tried Advance Searching but could not find a relevant thread.
Thanks!

Ran search for all threads created by you (58) and not say anything like "lock" or "actuator" in subject title.
Ran general search for "actuator sean" and nothing came up.
Ran search for "XJR actuator" and nothing came up.
Can anyone else give me some direction?

Have replaced my driver's door actuator recently. Takes a little patience and dexterity, but feasible. And yes, I mean actuator. But to do so, I had to remove the latch indeed. Removed a used (working) actuator from another (used) latch and replaced. Door locks again :-) Let me know if you need some further guidance beyond what has been shared here or other threads.

my problem is removing the bar from the tumbler and the handle so that i can slip it around the inner workings and out...96 xjr.....how does that come apart...it looks like its locked into the stuff...pics would be helpful or a walkthru....thank you for any help...
The link you are unable to remove is possibly this one?
If so, it comes apart by sliding the black collar down ......
...... and popping the metal rod out of the plastic sleeve
The rod stays on the handle and the plastic sleeve stays connected to the Latch.

I found myself in the drivers door to determine why the handle didn't fully return on the outside and what I found was the leg of the handle that the linkage rod attaches to had broken at the return spring pivot point. Any thoughts on where I might be able to track one of these down. 2000 XJ8. Thanks aloha

The Parts Catalogue doesn't list any separate parts for the driver's door handle other than the lock barrel so you're looking for a complete handle.

Additional Information
Thanks for this--the pictures of the disconnection of the lock shaft were very helpful. On my XJ8 there was a protective metal plate hiding the shaft and the connection. I was able to remove the metal plate with alot of jiggling. Of course I did it the hard way without removing the window rail. I ultimately got it disconnected but had to remove the window rail to get the actuator out anyway. To remove the window rail, just take out one TORX screw at the bottom and the metal piece slides down around the rubber and can be moved out of the way. Putting it back together will be so much easier. So, in answer to an earlier question, yes, you need to remove the window rail to remove the actuator (or at least your life will be much easier if you do . . .
