Replacing Brakes on my '98 XJ8 LDP-Suggestions?
It's time to replace the brake pads on my 1998 XJ8 VDP. Has anyone had any experience with the ELINE brand of "DRILLED AND SLOTTED" BRAKE ROTORS & CERAMIC PADS, kit # RA21022? I live in a very hilly, curvy area of the USA. Constant braking and stopping, much of the time at faster speeds. I want to step up a bit in quality, but don't want to buy "gimmicks".
Also, I'm trying to preserve any and all repair history on my VDP. Will replacing the rotors and pads myself detract from the provenance on the vehicle? What is the best method of recording provenance on these Jaguars?
Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Drilled and slotted rotors are fine for racing, where no one really cares about pad wear and you are going to change them often anyway.
The slots do eat up your pads quicker and unless you are trying to get less "fade" from frequent, hard braking, the cooling effect from the holes is going to be negligible in street driving.
Stock, solid rotors with some good EBC Red Stuff ceramics are going to give you better braking at lower cost without looking ricer/racer and eating up your pads.
Doing your own brakes should not detract from the value of the repair history on your car. A lot of us change our own brakes and such. Keep the receipts for the parts and notes on the dates of service and you should be OK
Just my opinion.
