Looking at the photo in post 59 really makes me want to take off those intake “flywheels” and wonder what will happen. There are literally millions of engines out there without VVT’s and those dead weights on the front of them. The hydraulic tensioners take up the chain slack, I should do it.

What purpose do they serve? I know what a flywheel does, but not sure why you’d need them on a camshaft.

The only thing I can think of is to keep the inertia going after a hard deceleration so there’s less chain flop.
