Default Roof Lining

Hi all - another question I need to replace the roof lining in my Jag. Someone has had a go replacing it but it is only average. Was the roof lining originally leather or vinyl in a 98 XJ Sport? Sorry if this is a totally dumb question. I was going to get it done in leather. You can tell this is the first Jag I have owned.

Hello Shane....nothing worse than a dogy head job ;o)=)
There is quite a lot written about this in the archives of both this site and others.
All X308's have fabric headliners.
The set up is fabric with a foam backing attached to a formed head board.
Approached in the right manner, the whole head board will come out of the car
in one piece....usually via the rear door....LWB cars make this job a bit easier ;o]

Thanks so much xjay8 - I will keep the fabric one but get it tightened properly. Yes a bad head job is totally not on.

I recovered my headliner with black marine vinyl. Stuff adapts amazingly-well to heat and will stand up to virtually anything thrown its way.

I will say, however, that screwing it back in was a major pain in the ****..
