Rough start atfer sitting for a few days

Greetings all,
Better weather conditions in TX (below 100 degrees that is) means time to list work to be done on the cat :-) You might see a few threads of mine coming up soon.
OK, so I have traveling quite a lot lately and the XJ8 has been sitting for a week or two at a time. Everytime I started it back up from such "resting" period, it would run very rough, as if on only few cylinders, and eventually stall. I would need to revv ~1.5k rpm and keep it there for 10 to 15 secs for it to eventually get back to normal. Idles perfect from that point on, no codes ever came up. When I drive the car on a daily basis, never such issue.
Where do I start looking? (or addressing?) - Throttle body clean?
Cheers

This is a common symptom of leaky fuel injectors. Basically, they leak slowly enough that if you're using the car as your daily (or nearly daily) driver you don't have a problem. However, if the car sits, one or more cylinders slowly flood (relatively speaking - we're not talking hydraulic-ing here, or generally we're not) and it makes the car very cranky when it comes time to start it.
Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.

Interesting guyslp. And thank you.
I actually had a "bore wash" problem last Spring. Probably related to what you describe here. Had to add teaspoon of oil in all cyclinders to eventually get compression back and engine to start again. Was told that typical gasoline 'flooding' in cynlinders.
I trust it's something to live with - a fix being pretty much replace the injectors and/or entire injection system?
Cheers

BG44 is great stuff: hard to find sometimes. GUMOUT's Best about as good, available everywhere and much cheaper. I have been using about a third bottle once a month on all the JLRs I have owned. When the injectors are real dirty, whole bottle. May need to clean throttle plate and bore and MAF sensor, too. My current 4.0 seems to dirty up quickly.

I use Lucas injector/valve cleaner in all of my vehicles. Every fourth-fifth tank. Been doing it for years, and never had any injectors issues. On older vehicles, the difference with the cleaner in the tank can actually be felt, in response, and better MPG.
I'm sure other cleaners mentioned here, work just as well, but in my area Lucas is readily available, and I buy few bottles every time I visit the autoparts store.

Thank you all
Sean B: Will certainly look for BG44. I have used a few other injector cleaners in the past (off the shelf STP, etc..). As to the battery... same one since I bought the car 1.5 years ago, and I believe the car sat on the dealers parking lot for a while before that. Suggesting battery replacement to address this issue (and possibly others?). I do read a lot of issues related to even slightly weak battery
JHartz: Throttle body clean is certainly not a bad idea. What do you mean by bore clean? (sorry for my ignorance). MAF sensor cleaned recently.
Daniesland: Noted for the Lucas brand
Cheers

Not on the engine, it could be hundreds of things, from an airleak (unmetered if no lights or codes) etc, just asking what it's state is right now, anything under 12.5V could make ghosts in the machine appear. The left sitting issue and maybe giving it a 24hr charge could help with electrical glitches (along with it being off the car and performing a reset of module memory)

Guys, thanks again
JHarts: I had a "duh" moment there with the bore. LOL I feel stupid
Sean: Love the ghost reference. Clearly Her Majesty have a lot in the closet and that's why we love Her
All: great news, found a garage selling cans of BG44 a stone throw away from my place !! They're putting one aside for me to pick up. Looked up BG website and found 2 authorized service centers very close.
