Running lean after pulley upgrade

I posted a pic of my installation in the above thread #247 if of any interest.
I have since then changed the boost activation pick up however.
In the pic you can see where I tapped in to the vacuum tube to the SC bypass valve.
I now have tapped into the lhs charge cooler. Done very carefully I would add.
When taking gauge measurements I was getting significantly different readings between the two tap points.
The one at the SC bypass valve was giving me much higher vacuum readings than the one on the charge cooler.
I also sacrificed my cabin filter and enclosure for the wather/meth pump and reservoir.

Eric
I would prefer my RL name not be published on forums. Its a very unique name and there are some serious weirdos/'well wishers' out there!
Moderators- would it be possible to edit some of the above posts to edit out my RL name please?
Thanks

I have been driving with the mods for almost 2 months now, and have had no powertrain issues.

It was through sustained use. Sustained top end use is very difficult on these cars in the USA. But googling images - the AJ33 SC forged piston looks a lot like it. So not sure.
-Running lean if you hit the MAF sensor top end 'clamp value' or that of the injectors (The AJ27 injectors have a lot of head room as they flow about 390 ccs per minute at 3 bar each and that's good for almost 500 bhp) or
-running too much advance and getting into more knock than the knock system can handle, or
- simply running too long at too high a cylinder pressure than the design was rated for are the things to watch for.

It was indicated that this was an AJ27. Despite the comment made about the GEN 5 S/C gasket- it could still be a 27 motor with later SC. It wasn't mine but a friends.

The same guy tested my AJ26S injectors, but at 2.5bar.
Below are flow test results prior to cleaning the injector pintles. Tested at 2.5 Bar, 60 second flow rate. full open (static test).1) 320 ml2) 3203) 3174) 3175) 3206) 3167) 3168) 309Average flow 316.88 mlLow 309High 320Spread 11 (low to high)Deviation 3.41 %The deviation should be 3% or less. In your case, the deviation is 3.41 %. Due to injector # 8. All the others look good.I only ultrasonically cleaned # 8, as the others looked good. After ultrasonic cleaning #8 is at 316 ml.Now your specs are as follows....Average flow 317.75 mlLow 316High 320Spread 4Deviation 1.79 %They all now look good and ready to refit.
316-320cc at 2.5bar means 346-350cc at 3bar. ( AJ26S after cleaning )
" You should note....I test injectors using N-Heptane. as does every injector shop. Much more stable, and less flammable than gasoline. Flow rates with USA test gas will be approximately 1.04 % higher. "

I'm curious, what kind of pulley, or mod, will get you over 500bhp on a AJ27S engine, to where the fuel injectors are running at their limit, since they are "good for almost 500 bhp." Was it just a pulley upgrade? If your friend assembled everything correctly, and went for a 150mph run right after the upgrade, then the ECU may not have known how to adapt, making it run lean. I'm sure if I didn't allow for adaptation after the upgrade, and ran multiple 150mph runs, then I'd most likely have a blown motor too.
