So I have a late model 2002 XJR, clean car inside and out, 104 K miles full Jag history so a decent looked after car.
However she has just come back from the body shop. A little bit of rust began to show on the front right strut, bulkhead. The scuttle panel was removed and again rust found around the wiper motor area. Finally the rear screen, both bottom corners just starting to show some rust spots.
All has been removed and treated, painted and she is back to her best. Just sharing this info as these seem to be the key areas for rust on the XJR.

God bless the Southwest!
My 98 VDP lived her all life in AZ and CA. Not a speck of rust anywhere.
I'm glad you found your rust spots on time. I lived in the Midwest for many years, and over there (Minneapolis), the cars rust after 3-4 years on the road. MANY people (myself included) store their nice cars through the winter, and drive a "winter beater" for almost half a year (not my way of living). I'm in the Southwest since 1995, and I love it, mainly because I like older cars, and in the Midwest they don't exist anymore (unless you opt for storing it for 5-6 months).
On another note,......one can find a high end car in the Midwest with HALF (or less!) mileage for the same year, than the comparative car over here.
