S/C PULLEY

I put an upper pulley upgrade on my 98 XJR - All good so far. I bought it from 'jaguarxp.com' - I got it a little cheaper by buying the air intake kit with it. Both worked out fine, the air intake kit fit perfectly- the car has some extra zip, and no negative effects after a few months.
Beware, however, on self-installation. They claim that the pulley upgrade is easy to install yourself. Not true....first of all, you need a pulley remover, and a pulley installer, which can both be expensive. Even if you have this, it is difficult to exchange the pulley without jacking up the engine. I ended up having a mechanic do it for about $160 labor.
nevertheless, I give it positive feedback, and a great way to become even more, ridiculously fast.

I have a 98 XJR and I have installed the upper and lower pulley from Eurotoys LTD....huge huge huge difference. I also have a cold air intake as well. Next, I am going to purchase the intercooler upgrade. You can tell a small difference with the upper pulley....but add the lower pulley and hold on. I can lightly touch the gas at 2k rpm and the car passes other cars without even breaking a sweat. You should also get the cool air intake....but stay away from the cone airfilters as they suck in the warm air from the engine bay.
My car has 110k miles and I drive her hard, I've also installed the Irridium spark plugs...that also helps. Lastly, I have had the car lowered 1.3 inches.
Thank you,
Stephen

Hey guys....
Sorry, I am new to this. There is the underdrive pulley that drives the S/C which I have replaced...it's about 7 inches in diameter. The pulley sits on the harmonic balancer.I also replaced the upper pulley as well.
If you guys visit Eurotoysltd.com you can check out all his mods he has.
Do you think my sled looks to ghetto?? I just put those black rims on. I enjoy you guys' posts.
Thank you,
Stephen

a full window tint on a black jag does hint at "gun in the glove box" --- but I do like your handiwork..
xjr...I was wondering what you mean by "cold air intake" - because on my 98 XJR, the stock air intake actually pulls air from the passenger side wheel well, which is basically a cold air intake already. What modification did you do to the intake??

Skanoski,
Yes sir, you are correct.....a cold air intake pulls air in from the outside....hence the "Cold Air intake". However, if you run a cone filter with not outlet to an outside air source....then you are not running a cold air intake....you are simply sucking in the hot air that is already in the engine bay. I purchased my cold air intake from Eurotoys for $550.00. Essentially you get a polished aluminum pipe and a large carbon fiber case which encloses the BMG air filter. Also, if you look at the stock intake system, you see the snorkel like tube and other devices on there devised in quieting the intake. This new system produces a smootherflow of air at a higher velocity. There is a noticeable difference in the sound. Have you guys heard the exhaust on a 350Z????? Take it down a notch or two and that is how the intake sounds....accompanied by a higher pitched blower whine with my two pulleys.
Thank you kindly gentlemen for your kind words.

Hi guys,
I do not know if I can post this here..so I am sorry...but Roadfly.com has another XJ8/XJR forum. I know a hot topic that is being discussed right now is a twin-screw S/C which is far more efficient to run and produces a cleaner boost which = far more horsepower.
Thank you,
Stephen

hello everybody in this forum!
I have a question for XJR
... i was reading your comments , about you replacing both supercharger pulleys and my questions are ... no overheating at all?... or any other issue? i'm asking this because i bought the upper pulley (not installed yet) and I'm trying to get the lower one, but i was told that, any increase in boost, i need to remap or retune the ECU because its reading a different PSI. ... and i did read in EUROTOYS that when you replace the pulleys you don't need the ECU retuning ,because it remap automatically by itself. so i'M CONFUSED
...any advise?... SO, DID YOU RETuNE YOR ECU , thanks for your help
... JORGE.
